Joshua Clark is the author of Heart Like Water, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle award, and Leopard, a semi-finalist for the Oscars screenplay fellowship. He is the president of the non-profit foundation Lifeline USA Ukraine, and has spent a decade interviewing survivors and researching refugee crises in East Africa, culminating in his upcoming book When Your Heart Is Your Only Country.

Clark received an Economics degree from Yale University, and has served as a correspondent for National Public Radio. His books have been translated into twelve languages. 

Clark has been a hardcore punk concert producer, bull rider, mountain climber, cannibal, gold miner, alligator hunter, blueberry farm manager, bartender, filmmaker, graphic designer, photographer, and dog rescuer. 

His work has appeared in Wall Street Journal, Oxford American, Consumer Affairs, Salon.com, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Miami Herald, Poets & Writers,  and Time Out: New York among many others. He also co-authored the international bestseller fitness books You Are Your Own Gym, Body By You, and Strong & Lean. 

Clark is also a Scottish Lord, is the CEO of Nightmare Football where the worst fantasy scores rule, practices Vipassana meditation and also Krav Maga, and is an environmentalist who spends much of his time on his 100% off-grid cypress log cabin in southern Louisiana.
